Electric aircraft: No more fueling

Source: Flight club

Airbus E-Fan electric two-seater aircraft prototype first flew in April 2014. Fully composite structured, zero emissions, silent aircraft could fly at an estimated top speed of 136mph. It draws power from 250-volt Kokam lithium-ion polymer batteries and offers an hour’s flight time. Wings hold the batteries instead of fuel, and it takes only an hour to recharge at the ground station. E-fan aircraft has two centrally mounted ducted variable pitch fans that can be controlled by the pilot. It is expected to hit the market in 2017.
