Bracketed Terms

Brackets are symbols used in pairs to group expressions together in mathematics. Brackets exist in various shapes and are identified as parentheses ( ), square brackets [ ], and braces { }. Typically a mathematical expression may be enclosed in an open bracket ‘(’ and a matching closing bracket ‘)’. Brackets within a bracket are permitted when using brackets in an expression.
