Maintain a well-balanced diet with regular meals in addition to intake of plenty of water, fruits, vegetables, fish, meat and pulses. An ideal breakfast should be rich in protein and the dinner portion should be higher in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates produce chemicals that are required for the brain for a sound sleep.

 

Sleep

Regular sleeping patterns maintains the body clock and increases the performance.

 

Exercise

Even though it is impossible for everyone to follow heavy workouts, regular exercise routine helps maintain a healthy heart. Swimming and walking are the best for a sound body.

 

Relaxation

Relaxation helps relieve stress and can revitalise the entire system.

 

Bladder Habits

Good bladder habits improves bladder control. Drinking plenty of water and emptying the bladder as and when necessary is healthy. Eating lots of fibre, fruits and vegetables should keep your bowels regular. It is better not to strain when using your bowels, as this will weaken your pelvic floor muscles.

 

Personal Hygiene

A daily body wash reduces stress levels and improves self-esteem of a person. Wearing proper clothes according to the weather changes will ensure comfortability. Get regular medical and dental check-ups and follow appropriate treatment as and when necessary.

 

Personal Habits

It is better not to try any drugs unless prescribed by a medical professional and read enclosed leaflet instructions carefully before use. Safe sex habit reduces the risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Avoid smoking as it is a major contributor to various medical problems including lung cancer, heart disease and bronchitis. Intake of alcohol should be kept in moderation.

 

Blood Pressure

Blood pressure should be regularly monitored and must be kept in control. Hypertension or high blood pressure leads to stroke, heart disease, kidney ailments, artery damage, defects in the circulatory system and other health problems.

 

Body Weight

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on a person’s height and weight. High BMI indicates the higher risk of certain diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, osteoarthritis, gallstones, breathing problems and certain cancers.
