“Eyes out of the flight deck”

Head-up display (HUD)

Heads-up display (HUD) systems projects information onto a glass at the pilots eye level. Introduced in fighter jets in early 1950’s to display altitude, speed and even targeting systems on the front of the cockpit canopy. Airbus began using it in 2009, and included on its wish list for the A350 XWB series from the start. The system uses Bluetooth technology to integrate on-board airport navigation, flight management system, and aircraft navigation system into display system.
