The three Gyro instruments are Attitude Indicator, Directional Gyro and Turn and Bank Indicator

Attitude indicator is also known as Vertical Gyro. It shows the aircrft rotation about its longitidunal axis and lateral axis. About the longitudinal axis it indicate the degree of bank and about the lateral axis it indicate the pitch(nose up or nose down).

It utilizes the rigidity characteristic of the gyro which stays in its plane of rotation irrespective of aircraft attitude (position).
